He was born on 7th May 1937. He is a Composer, Playwright and Singer. He is part of the history of the National Theatre where he performed his first composition as a student of the Kampala Technical school during the theatre’s opening in 1957. Serukenya is legendary for his great musicals of the sixties especially Makula Ga Kulabako made in collaboration with Byron Kawadwa. He continues to write vocal music for choirs and is currently reviewing the Bank of Uganda Anthem which he composed in the 80s. The repertoire ‘Makula Ga Kulabako’ is eclectic with African compositions based on folklore of Uganda but also that of Russia and Britain, English madrigals, art songs and Handel’s Messiah.
