Anita Asaasira – Uganda

Anita Desire Asaasira is a musician and has been a music instructor since 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (2006) and a Master of Arts in Music (Ethnomusicology) degree (2010) from Makerere University. She is an Assistant Lecturer at Makerere University in the Department of Performing Arts and Film and is also an instructor and head of the African Music Department at Africa Institute of Music (AIM) in Muyenga, Kampala. She has also been working with the Bayimba Cultural Foundation Education department where she has been involved in the planning and facilitation of several training programs for musicians. Anita is also the cofounder of APECODA (Art for Peace and Community Development in Africa), a non-profit organization running projects aimed at using the arts as a means to foster peace, conflict resolution and development in communities, particularly in northern Uganda.
