Kaya Kagimu Mukasa is the Founder and Executive Director of Arts Treasure. A Film Arts Practitioner with 20 years of experience in the field of performing arts. Born bred and educated in Uganda and abroad. An alumni of Kyambogo University (formally Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo) Makerere University Department of Performing Arts and Film, Cambridge Tutorial College – United Kingdom (Management) and Royal Court International Residency – United Kingdom and Maisha Film Lab. Has expertise in acting, directing, writing stage management and arts management for radio, stage and television. Has additional skills in project management, events management and workshop facilitation. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and group management skills. Has professional working experience nationally and internationally (UK, USA, Ireland, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia)
Some of the plays acted in, worthy of mention are Mother Courage and Her Children directed by Prof Rose Mbowa, performed in UK, Wounds of Africa directed by Alex Mukulu performed in India and USA, Between You and Me written by Dr Charles Mulekwa and directed by Mark Wilson, Mother Courage and her Children directed by Jane Collins performed at JF Kennedy Centre USA and Grahams town – South Africa , The Treasure within Me directed by Issacha Sawadougou performed in Zimbabwe, The Mask written by Namu Lwanga performed in USA.
Some of the plays directed; The Lion and the Jewel, The Mask, Zinalirawa, Muduuma Kwe Kwaffe, Makula Ga Kulabako, The burdens, The Marriage Chronicles
Some of the project as Stage Manager and Arts Manager include; Mother Courage and Her Children, Silent Voices, Caden Makwo, Rock Point 256.
Some of the Radio Drama Series written; Someone Cares, All Our Children, Obbanywa, Rock Point 256, Healthy Choices, A Moving Experience, Together we Stand, Ekiija Omanyire.
Some of the Television Drama Series written; Centre4, Obete, Yat Madit, My Maid and I.
International Movies acted in include; Missisipi Masala by Miira Nair, Caring Completely and It’s not Easy by John Riber, Sometimes in April by Raol Pecke, Silent Army by Jean Vande Velde, Jamaa by Michael London, Zebu’s photo fish.
International Movies worked on in casting and diction coaching capacity; Last King of Scotland, Aki Bua the tragedy, Queen of Katwe
Plays written, directed and managed by Kaya include; What do you do when you don’t know what to do?, What language does the Wind Speak?, Rhythm of My Chaos, Grave Robber Services and My Maid and I.
Kaya is working on publishing her play Grave Robber Services in October 2016
